Hello and welcome to the official home of the Hayward Firefighters’ “Smash for Cash” Charity Demolition Derby. Here, you’ll find everything you need to attend, support, or participate in the 2026 derby.

We are the Hayward Firefighters of Local 1909, and this is our annual “Smash for Cash” Charity Demolition Derby—a firefighter-run event created to bring our community together through dirt, laughter, friendly competition, and a whole lot of smashed cars.
What began as a wild idea shared around a dinner table has grown into one of our favorite traditions and one of the largest community events we host each year. While the crashes, excitement, and entertainment draw the crowds, the true purpose of this event goes far beyond the arena.
All proceeds from the derby benefit the Hayward Firefighters Charitable Fund, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting programs, charities, and families in need throughout the Hayward community and beyond.
Everything you see—from the derby cars and merchandise to event operations, setup, cleanup, and volunteer coordination—is powered by firefighters, dispatchers, family members, friends, sponsors, and supporters who share a commitment to giving back to the community we proudly serve.
Now, we’re taking the event to the next level.
The 8th Annual Hayward Firefighters “Smash for Cash” Charity Demolition Derby is coming to the Alameda County Fair on June 20 and 21, 2026. We couldn’t be more excited to bring this event to an even larger audience while continuing our mission of raising funds for great causes and making a positive impact in our community.
